About CHERYL
Period architecture, interiors and gardens have inspired Cheryl Hackett to be a writer for as long as she can remember. She finetuned her craft at Salve Regina University, where she earned a M.A. and B.A. Her focus of study was English, Journalism, Communications and Architectural History.
Cheryl is the author of Newport Shingle Style (Published by Frances Lincoln Publishers, Ltd. London. 2010). The hardcover explores the history, influences and evolution of the Shingle Style through 15 homes. Newport Shingle Style received favorable reviews from many national publications. See a review.
She writes about architecture, preservation and interior design for several national magazines including Classic Homes, Cottage Style, Coastal Living, Yankee, La Vie Claire, Victorian Homes, Romantic Homes, Country Sampler and Farmhouse Style. She passes her love of storytelling on to college students. Cheryl teaches undergraduate writing, communications and public relations classes at the Harrington School of Communications at the University of Rhode Island and Johnson & Wales University. She also taught writing and public relations at Salve Regina University.
